Sweet intro!

I really like the intro but when it kicks in it really feels weak!? This is a bit of a disappointment because you're expecting something huge. Not to say the material is bad. I guess it's just an EQing issue or maybe stick another synth part to fill out the sound. Would be nice to be met with a brick wall to the face!

thebigtarget1 responds:

Louder got it. I will probably make that change tomorrow. I agree it could be louder.

Amen, brother.

That's some pretty interesting drum glitching you got going on with the old amen break.

Not a lot else going on though, right? I mean, you didn't glitch the piano or violin. Just the drums?

Still, great skills!

UntitledWhite responds:

I don't really own a lot of drum loops, so i downloaded an Amen Break collection. My buddy sent me the piano/violin piece for me to mess with. I sliced the Amen break, and then not so much "glitched" it, but broke the breakbeat. Its nothing special, but i'm glad you enjoyed it. Stay tuned for more to come :)

Is that a didgeridoo?

Massive can be a royal pain in the ass, sometimes. What's up?

I'd say the major problem in this piece is the real lack of dynamics. It sounds like you've applied a heavy limiter to the entire track?

Other than that everything else seems to be in order!

slappmedoo responds:

Yeah, shaping and compression are usually the last thing I worry about. The only major compression currently on the track is sidechaining the kick to the main melody. Since there isn't really a bassline, pretty much everything sounds limited. But thanks for noticing that! :D

And no, it's a glitched flute on a C3 octave :P

Notbad.

The beat is fairly interesting to begin with but needs variating a lot as the repetitiveness kills it.
The bass notes overlap and clash which is pretty off-putting for me.
The slide-guitar type lead melody is nice. Then I realise it's a piano sound that you're pitching up and down. Sounds cool.

Overall, I like this piece up until the 2 minute mark. Then I feel like there should be something different going on. Different chords, a key change.. new instruments. Perhaps just more going on in the latter stages.

Still, good work.

omikron1989 responds:

thanks bro! this helps me make better stuff in the future :)

It's a very beautful piece.

It's an ode to the beauty of a new life. But, if you're depicting birth, shouldn't there be the feeling of blood, sweat and tears in there somewhere? Along with a screaming woman? Just a thought..

PenguinSam responds:

Actually, there is a hint of that! The section from 3:27 to 3:45 is the actual moment of birth. You can hear that the chords have clashing notes within them.

I'm glad you ejoyed the piece, and your review is much appreciated!

<PS>

Yup

Sounds pretty Clock Towerish to me!

InariPlex responds:

I guess I succeeded then xD. Thanks for the review!

Wow.

Dude, if you actually composed this then hats off to you. It flows pretty well! Playing is also pretty good.
I'm impressed. Look forward to more, and congratulations. Coming from a married man, good luck for the future. :)

margarine responds:

Thank you very much. Yeah, it's all played/composed by me. There's a couple of bum notes in there, but overall I'm really happy with the recording. Thanks for the score.

Very interesting!

I like the sounds you've using and the detuned, dissonance of it all.

Also, can I have that beat? I'd love to play around with it myself..

here are the building blocks of the song: http://tindeck.com/listen/bsjp

youre welcome to do whatever you want with it!

Nice riff

Anyway, the main, chunky bass riff is cool. It overpowers the drums though which is a shame. Also, the riff does start to grate after the 3 minute mark.

I'd also say there needs to be some common ground between the gated synth part and the bass riff as the transition between the two kinda feels a bit weird when it comes back around at t 3:15.

Anyway, I still enjoyed this piece of music, too. So, all that's left to be said is,

My Mother thanks you.
My Father thanks you.
My Sister thanks you.
And I thank you.

Not bad

It's pretty good. You just need some pumping bass playing and thumping drumming to make this tune huge.
My only advice would be to multitrack as you can tell you're playing whilst singing. That way you can do the guitar to a click and it wouldn't be out of time in places.
Your singing is good. Sounds kinda like Brandon Boyd's style. I think he's a cunt, but I won't hold that against you.

Hexol94 responds:

Lol thats fucking great i was laughing my ass off at the Brandon comment but at the same time I'm flattered, thanks finally someone took the time to give my stuff a listen. I'm planning on releasing as much stuff before i go to army. Again many thanks made my day!
